Life Lately...

Life has been a lot different from how it used to be.  I have been at secondary school for nearly two months now.  Some days are better than others, but looking back...it's all so strange.

I went to school throughout the whole of preschool, foundation stage, up to the beginning of year 4, and that's all in one preschool and two schools.  Then I was home educated.  I loved being home educated, helping out with my little siblings was my life.  But then I became so bored all of a sudden, searching for something new to do, something different.  Mum said about secondary school, I don't think she expected me to think about and say yes.  Mum probably thought I would quickly react and shout "NO WAY!", I don't blame her.

When Mum sent the letter to school all signed off and saying I was going, I regretted my choice so badly that I started to feel like it was going to be the end of the world.  Mum sent the letter quite late so I wasn't completely sure they would have a space for me, but when they replied and said I had a space...I was gutted.  I was pretty sure something good would happen when I was there, that was partly the reason why I wanted to go in the first place, along with wanting to do something new.

For the first week I HATED school as much as you could, but now I am really enjoying it, there are some lessons that I wish didn't exist, but other than that I am alright with school.  I have made two BFFs that are just amazing and incredible and altogether lovely people.  I have also met a few people I wish I hadn't, but that's just life, isn't it?

So, to all people that are thinking about trying something new, that you wouldn't usually, I would say GO FOR IT!  You probably will regret it for a while but after that I'm pretty sure you will be glad you made the decision.  It might feel like forever, but eventually you'll get there.

Summer and winter

My word of the week is Summer!

This week has been really sunny and it has been lovely to be able to get out into the sun and just lay on the grass and relax.  It is so nice to know that summer is really here now and there is so much to look forward to.  It has been lovely having BBQ's and getting the paddling pool out.  Nice to know that in the morning you can hang the washing out and then go to the park.  It is better than in the winter when you are trapped indoors and you are really bored and there is nothing to do.

Geek Girl - Picture Perfect - Review and giveaway!

I really liked the look of Geek Girl and was keen to read it, so I read through it quite quickly!  It was much better then I expected actually.

Geek Girl by Holly Smale is about a teenage girl called Harriet Manners who loves living where she lives and loves the friends she has but she has to move all the way to America, far away from all her friends and her home, and only an hour and a half away from New York.  She doesn't have such a great life there, she has a mean tutor and nobody to talk to.  But, from what I read throughout this book, I think she coped quite well.

Harriet has a boyfriend called Nick, who is a model and travels all round the world, because of this Harriet doesn't get to see Nick much.  But when they do meet up they have some good times.  They really love each other.  When Nick finds out that Harriet has run away from home he takes her back and Harriet gets grounded for five days.

It is soon Harriet's birthday and she is so looking forward to her birthday.  Her parents are acting like they don't know it is her birthday, so this makes her birthday even more exciting...that is until she finds out that her parents actually have forgotten about her birthday.  Harriet stays in her room and doesn't come out.  She is so upset - Harriet's dad got a new watch and he saw the date and realised that it was Harriet's birthday.

Early in the morning Harriet leaves her house and goes to New York to meet up with her friend who has given her a job as a model.  Harriet used to be a model before and really missed modelling but Harriet has to go on a roller coaster for a photo shoot and the roller coaster has to go round a few times and when she gets off she faints.

I really enjoyed this book and thoroughly recommend it.

Father's Day Gifts

It is nearly Father's Day and so I thought I would share with you a few ideas of what I would by for my dad.

I really like the card, it is so true!  And what dad wouldn't like a running watch?!

My dad is a foodie so the Fortnum and Mason hamper would be perfect for him.  And of course, my dad has always wanted a dog, but not any dog, an English Mastiff.  I would really like one too!

Anyway, what would you get your dad? And what do you think of what I chose??

Odin and Henry

It is so cute to see the way Odin and Henry are always trying to play with each other.  When they think you're not looking they will go off and play together.  It is adorable to see them do everything together.  When it is bedtime for Henry, he will go upstairs with daddy, get ready for his story, and he will call Odin before the story starts so they can listen to it together.

The School for Good and Evil - A World without Princes

I recently reviewed The School for Good and Evil here and today I am reviewing the second book.

Life is great for Agatha and Sophie, that is until some people start attacking their village. They say they won't stop attacking the village until the village gives them Sophie.

Some people say to Sophie's dad that they will take Sophie somewhere safe, but no one can come with her.  Agatha meanwhile, is home and talking to her mum, when she finds out that Sophie isn't going anywhere safe at all.  Agatha runs out of the house and that's when everything goes wrong...

Imogen

Imogen is going to be turning eight on the 6th June which isn't long.  She keeps popping up with ideas for her birthday, like where she wants to eat, what presents she wants, what cake she wants and so on.  She is so excited about her birthday.

Moss, mushrooms and snails

This week has been sunny, rainy, sunny.  The weather really doesn't seem to know whether to be sunny or rainy!  Anyway I have been in the garden and discovered a few things...

I found these mushrooms on the wood in the garden.  I have never seen mushrooms like these before.  I really like the middle picture because that mushroom looks kinda like an ear!

There have been ever so many snails in the garden!

And there has been lots of moss in the garden.  (I know, there is only a tiny bit of moss in this picture!)
It has been lovely to see all these wonderful thing in the garden.  Nature is so pretty and always deserves a picture.

Have any interesting things been in your garden?

Giraffe Socks from Cath Kidston

I received a lovely pair of giraffe socks from lovely Cath Kidston which match my blog!  Everyone knows that it is hard to find a good, comfy pair of stylish socks.  I tried these socks on not expecting much but I was shocked to find how comfy these socks were.  They are such good quality too.  And definitely stylish!
